I went to this my favorite local Ital Rastafarian restaurant today, The Garden of Eatin’, and along with my delicious home cooked Ital food, I decided to try something experimental. The lovely woman that runs the place and is also the head chef, Mrs. Brown, suggested that I try the “Roots drink” that she had in the fridge. Feeling irie, I decided to grab one. The brownish-orange liquid didn’t look very appetizing, and after reading the ingredient, I knew that I was in for a surprise. When I first drank it, my face contorted and my mouth puckered as I reached for a glass of water. On my second go, it didn’t get any better. Even though the taste was a little unbearable, it felt like I was doing something good for my body. In this way it reminded of the first time I tried Kombucha, although even Kombucha has a better taste than this. Usually I feel I could get used to almost any taste, no matter how exotic. However, this was just in a different league. I don’t see how anyone could develop a liking for the taste of this beverage. But I guess some people do. Anyways, the packaging was really cool, so check it out!
